The Kielanowski Institute of Animal Physiology and Nutrition is a unit of the Biological and Agricultural Science Division of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
It was established in 1955. The creator and organizer as well as the first long-time director was Professor Jan Kielanowski. The Institute conducted basic and development research in the field of animal nutrition, metabolism and utilization of nutrients and biologically active substances in feed. Animal physiology is represented by the studies on neuroendocrinology and endocrinology of growth, development and reproduction. Other important items are the studies on symbiotic microorganisms, colonizing the gastrointestinal tract and on the development of the structure and function of the gastrointestinal tract of newborn animals.
