The Kielanowski Institute of Animal Physiology and Nutrition was established in 1955 as a research unit of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Division of Biological and Agricultural Sciences for basic research on the physiology, nutrition, and endocrinology of farm animals. The organization and direction of the Institute was entrusted to Professor Jan Kielanowski, whose name the Institute received in 1990.
