The Institute of Animal Physiology and Nutrition was established in 1955 as the research unit of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Department of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences for basic research on the physiology, nutrition, and endocrinology of farm animals.
The organization and direction of the Institute was entrusted to Professor Jan Kielanowski, whose name the Institute received in 1990.
The Institute has 105 employees, including 11 with academic titles of professor, 5 with academic degrees of doctor habilitated, 16 with degrees of doctor of science. The Institute is authorized to confer the academic degree of doctor of agricultural sciences.
